PLANECRAZY WORLD WAR 2 BONANZA!

2010-03-09
Great news folks. We have just obtained a huge haul of Corgi World War 2 1/72 and 1/32 scale Aviation Archive models, which have been unavailable from Planecrazy for some time now. Also we are pleased to be able to offer several other Corgi World War 2 aircraft which have not previously been obtainable via our website. These include several of the "Nose Art" and "Flight Line Collection" models, intended mainly for US issue and quite rare in the UK.
The models will gradually be appearing on the website over the coming days and weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for anything turning up that you've been waiting for. Remember to use the search facility to save you time.

Happy hunting!

PLANECRAZY HAPPY DAYS!!

2010-02-22
Just arrived are even more new models, which have increased the number of items on our website www.planecrazy.biz to over the 1,400 barrier. Keep your eyes peeled on the site as periodically some of the obsolete Corgi which has been out of stock will be once again available. Please let us know if you want to be placed on my waiting list for any model not currently available and we'll do our best to source it for you.

We are particularly impressed with Hobbymaster models and have decided to increase our variety of their models in stock. Take a look at their superb range; you won't be disappointed and there is more to come: Present and future releases include the best 1/72 scale F-4 Phantom model available in many liveries, F-22 Raptor, A-1 Skyraider, A-10 Thunderbolt, F-105 Thunderchief, F-100 Super Sabre, Mig 15, Mig 21, F-104 Starfighter, Mirage 2000, T-6 Texan/Harvard, P-39 Airacobra, Curtis Helldiver, Japanese Kate and GR7/9 Harrier! Or how about the superbly detailed 1/48 scale Spitfire mark 14 or Focke Wulf FW 190?!! Many of their range are models which the diecast world are seeing for the first time. The models are really accurate, with intricate panel lines and attractive liveries. Many are now sold out at wholesale and extremely sought after, representing excellent future investments. Don't be too late to snap them up at very competitive prices. Don't forget that the Corgi Predator range are also Hobbymaster castings. At present they are the true bargains of the diecast world, with wonderful liveries and limited edition booklets at rock bottom prices.

In the Non-Corgi diecast section there are plenty of models from smaller manufacturers, who are producing models of aircraft which have not been previously released. A perfect example is Sky Max, whose 1/72 diecast models of the Bearcat, Tempest, Aichi Val dive bomber, F-84 Thunderjet and Russian LA-5 are easily on a par with Corgi and represent excellent value for money. Now they have announced they will soon produce a long-awaited model of the Jet Provost.

Back in stock are some hard to find Altaya models such as the sought after Defiant, Skua, HE219, HE162, D0335, Dewoitine D520, Morane 406, Oscar, Tony, Grace and Raiden. None of which are made by anyone else in diecast. They are linked with IXO, who have produced more obscure 1/144 models like the C-54 Cargomaster and Kawanishi Emily and BV 222 flying boats, plus the 1/72 Arado 234 jet bomber

I now have a nice variety of 1/400 models from Gemini, Dragon and Jet X. These include many jet airliners and some of the larger military aircraft, many of which are now hard to find.

NOW IN STOCK is the new Witty Wings Tornado F3 in 25 Squadron livery. It is limited to only 1,500 pieces and complete with lifting canopy, optional undercarriage and moving parts. Coming soon is the Fairey Gannet

In addition to the diecast models there are plastic kits, aviation art prints, patches, books and memorabilia to purchase.

Even if you're not a collector and need some cheaper toy planes for a kids party there are plenty to choose from!

Thanks to all our customers for making www.planecrazy.biz what it now is: The only place to offer such a vast and diverse range of rare and collectible diecast aircraft models.

Thanks for your continuing custom

The Planecrazy gang

NEW CORGI, CENTURY WINGS, WITTY WINGS AND GEMINI

2008-09-19
CORGI

I attended a preview of the 2009 Corgi model range on 18 September and had the privilege to view some of the forthcoming models. They include a new "Survivors" range which include a new version of Vulcan XH558, Bruntingthorpe Lightning F6 XR728, the prototype Mosquito, Vampire T11 and Brooklands Wellington. Also products which took my eye were a 2-seat night fighter ME262, 20 Sqn grey and green Tornado, Buccaneer red flag, Jaguar in orange decommission livery, Red Arrow new livery Hawk, Chinook in current Afghanistan colours, Hawk in Battle of Britain livery and a revised casting VC-10 tanker. Others included 1/48 scale Fokker DR1, Camel, and Albatross, some new JU-88, Swordfish, MiG29, AH-60, FW190 and JU-52s, plus a new casting Skyhawk. Corgi are really now listening to what collectors want and are lowering their production runs to prevent the traditional dumping. Good for everyone!

CENTURY WINGS

Look out for several of the outstanding Century Wings range of aircraft models coming in stock at Planecrazy. Specialising so far in purely US Navy jets they have released the F-14 Tomcat, A-6 Intruder, A-7 Corsair and F-8 Crusader. Planecrazy is aiming to offer you several liveries of each of these models. The older releases are now completely sold out at wholesalers and (as they are on low limited edition runs) already hard to find and attracting premium prices. If you have not yet taken a look at these models we suggest that you really ought to; the quality of the castings and panel lines are second to none, plus they come with full weapon loads, optional undercarriage, opening canopies, limited edition certificate and stand. Uniquely some of the F-14 and F-8 models have versions with flaps down and undercarriage compressed in the carrier take-off configuration. These are a perfect compliment to the normal configuration versions. Happy hunting!

WITTY WINGS

Coming into stock very shortly is the excellent new Witty Wings 1/72 scale Tornado F3. Limited editions with optional undercarriage positions; the first 2 models will be in 25 Sqn and 43 Sqn liveries. Collectors have been crying out for this model and Witty will no doubt not disappoint us.

GEMINI JETS

Another model which collectors have been longing for is the Spey engined (British) F-4 Phantom FG1 and FGR2. This will be Gemini Jets first 1/72 jet casting and the first livery will be a Limited Edition 892 (Omega) Squadron Royal Navy when based on the carrier HMS Ark Royal. Deliveries are hopefully expected in late October. Of course there will be many more RAF versions to follow so get some space ready in your cabinets. As an ex-Phantom man myself I think I may be keeping a few of these babies! Also I have now have several of the superb Gemini MACS 1/400 scale V-10s, Hercules and C-17 Globemasters in stock at very reasonable prices.

HAPPY HUNTING

BRUNTINGTHORPE COLD WAR JETS OPEN DAY 25th MAY

2008-05-16
Bruntingthorpe aviation museum have announced that they will be holding another COLD WAR JETS Open Day on Sunday 25th May 2008. It is a truly unique experience; spectators can watch cold war jets such as the Victor, Comet, Buccaneer, Hunter, Jet Provost and the wonderful Lightning scorch down the runway on fast taxi runs, much closer to the public line than at a normal air display. Anyone who has not yet been to watch are really missing a treat; if you haven't seen or heard a Lightning in full reheat you haven't lived!! In addition Vulcan XH558 is expected to be on static display, so the public can see her before she is due to return to the air display circuit within the month! There will be other events such as tuned BMW cars racing against fast jets, remote control aircraft displays, an aero jumble and much more! Planecrazy will be having a stall on the day, where we will have our exclusive Lightning model on sale, together with many other diecast aircraft models including ones suitable for children. Please bear in mind that space will be at a premium so if you want to pre-order anything it would be preferable to contact me by email or phone beforehand. Please also note I do not accept any credit cards. Entry cost is only £12 per adult and kids 16 and under are free, gates open at 10.00 am. Hope to see you there.

SEASONS GREETINGS!!!!!

2007-12-18
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone!!

Thanks so much for all your continuing support. The continually excellent comments about the site and level of service keep us eager to remain at the pinnacle of the diecast aviation collectors scene.

We go into 2008 with some exciting new diecast models on the way such as the 1/72 scale Corgi Lightning F6 and Gemini Spey engined RAF/Navy Phantom to name but a few. Lower Limited Edition runs will ensure that future releases are not "dumped" on the market as has occurred in the past.

"May all your lofts be beautifully insulated with empty model boxes"

Cheers!!
Chris and the PLANECRAZY gang

VULCAN FLIES!!

2007-10-18
Vulcan XH558 has returned to the skies for the first time in 14 years. She made her maiden test flight following a major overhaul from Bruntingthorpe at around mid day today.
More flights will follow in the next few weeks as a 3 mile exclusion zone has been declared around the airfield until 2nd November. WELL DONE TO The Vulcan Operating Company and all its supporters!!!

VULCAN XH558 TO FLY TODAY!!!!

2007-10-17
Very strong rumours suggest that (if serviceable) Vulcan XH558 will take off from Bruntingthorpe for the first time in over 14 years tomorrow; Thursday the 18th of October!! She has been given clearance by the Civil Aviation Authority for 3 test flights after an amazing story concerning her rebuild following the granting of lottery funds and donations by 20,000 people. Possibly the most amazing spectacle in recent aviation history is really going to happen. Who could ever have imagined that a huge 1950s cold war four engined bomber would be returned to the air in this day and age where we can't even have an airborne Lightning in the UK? BRILLIANT STUFF!!!! Maybe there's hope for a Lightning yet??

I also have a few of the first 3 of HobbyMasters excellent 1/72 Dauntless and 2 Stuka models still in stock. Only 360 of each were brought into the UK so they are going to be highly sought after in the future.

SUPERB HOBBYMASTER STARFIGHTER

2006-11-07
I have just obtained stock of the first Hobbymaster 1/72 Starfighter and have to report that it is absolutely fantastic! It depicts an F-104C "Really George", flown by Col George Laven Jr of the 479th TFW, USAF based at George AFB, California in 1963. Finished in natural metal with lovely multicoloured unit markings, this is THE Starfighter model to have in your collection. CORGI ANNOUNCE 2007 MODEL RELEASES

2006-10-22
The Corgi 2007 Catalogue is now out, complete with some very nice surprises for the Aviation collector. In addition to expected releases such as the 1/144 scale VC-10 and 1/72 Lysander, P-38 Lightning, 2 Typhoons (WW2 and Eurofighter), Halifax, Catalina and JU88 there is now to be a P-51B Mustang, Vampire, MIG 29, A-10 and Wessex. As if that isn't enough the Canberra tooling has been modded to include the single cockpit B(I)8 variant and the 1/144 Hercules has been altered to a C-130J. A Falklands theme to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the war will include a Harrier/ Sea Harrier twinset on a simulated carrier ski ramp.

Pause for breath here because the good news continues: Co-operation with manufacturer Hobbymaster means that their excellent Stuka, Dauntless, Avenger, Hellcat, MIG 21 and Starfighter will be offered each in 3 different liveries as Corgi products (none clashing with Hobbymaster colour schemes)and known as the Predator range.

The Connoisseur range is also introduced with several models in very limited quantities of only 150 each in oak display cases.

Finally another shocker is that several WW1 biplanes are to be released in 1/48 scale, initially the Albatross, SE5a and Spad.

PARTY TIME!!!

2006-01-19
If you care to take a look on the Lightning info page you will find there are 3 pages of luvverly Lightning pics to peruse. Hope you like them. Please remember this is a Pre-Production model and there are numerous minor defects which are being ironed out by Corgi right now; mainly the rectangular bands around the 3 Xs being too thin.

1 SQUADRON SETS TO BE SPLIT

2006-01-03
